Mount Baker Valley

As an entry into the 2010 ULI/ Hines Urban Design Competition, this project was worked on in conjunction with a five-member multidisciplinary team- on which I served as a main designer. The project sough to tie the ethnically and economically diverse Mt. Baker neighborhood back into the city fabric of greater Seattle. Our team’s design offers a way in which the neighborhood can connect back into the city by emphasizing the presence of public transport while also proposing public green spaces. New housing and retail are introduced in the interest of bringing a sense of placeness and identity to the Mt. Baker neighborhood.

Transit Modes

The bus center and light rail station act as a catalyst to endorse alternative transit. This incorporates the importance of pedestrians and bicyclists within this site, initiating a sustainable and health conscious district for all of Seattle to enjoy.

Green Space

The Innovation Square in Phase 1 fuels learning communities and development of businesses. Phase 3 will include the community lawn with amphitheater space and green wall projection screen as well as the community gardens for the residents. The sculpture garden in Phase 4 will relate to the gallery and adjacent Artspace Mt. Baker lofts.

ORANGE: Rainier Avenue as a secondary road.
